Some Girls in Uganda miss up to eight days of study every school terms because their periods. This school absence rate makes it harder for girls to catch up and partly accounts for girls dropping out of school.
Girls use a piece of cloth cut from old T-shirts, and some even use leaves.
The cloth is very uncomfortable and it cause friction between the thighs.
The piece of cloth easily leaks through the girl’s clothes or uniform and the leaves are not able to help at all. Girls are also stigmatized by cultural attitudes that regard menstruating woman as dirty.
For $15 a year you can help a girl have sanitary pads so she can be able to attend school without worrying of staining her clothes and being bullied by her peers.
